Correcting someone who is listening to music

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My brother was playing a game and music was loud in the background. I told him to stop and he said ‘be quiet, it’s a live event (referring to a feature of a game)’. He is baaligh, is this kufr?

Bismillaah

A: This is not kufr, but listening to music is not permissible. Hence, he should make sincere taubah for his wrong. Similarly, he should be taught that when he is corrected for his wrong, he should accept his mistake and not say anything.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
