Qurbaani animal getting injured or dying before the days of qurbaani

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a qurbaani animal gets injured after purchasing it to the extent that it does not meet the requirements for qurbaani anymore or it dies:

1. Does another animal have to be purchased?

2. Does the new animal have to be of the same value and size, etc.?

3. If a person cannot afford to buy another animal, what should he do?

Bismillaah

A:

1. Yes.

2. No.

3. If he is a poor person and does not have that amount of wealth, cash and extra belongings, which reach the nisaab amount then qurbani is not wajib on him.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
