Is Dropshipping Permissible with Clear Advertisements?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I’m pretty sure you are aware of how dropshipping works, where someone buys from another person who actually buys from another wholesaler, etc.

So my question is that, would dropshipping be permissible if in the advertisement the following things are stated:

– Time and duration of delivery

– That the actual seller does not have possession of the item

– A thorough description of the item

Bismillaah

A: It is not permissible for one to sell an item which one does not own. However, the solution is for one to take orders from those who wish to purchase. After the shipment arrives and one takes possession, one may thereafter sell the item.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
