Is gargling the mouth and rinsing the nose fardh in wudhu?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In the process of wudhu, there are 4 fardhs; washing the face, the arms, masah of the head and washing the feet. Kindly clear my doubt if washing of the face comprises of gargling the mouth and cleaning the nose.

Bismillaah

A: Washing the face does not include gargling the mouth and rinsing the nose. Gargling the mouth and rinsing the nose is sunnah in wudhu.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
