Does one have to be in a pure state and pure clothes for repentance to be accepted?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Does one have to be in a pure state and pure clothes for repentence to be accepted?

Bismillaah

A: Through impure clothing, if you are referring to clothing which is dirty or has some impurity on it, then duas can be accepted in such clothing. Clean clothing is not a precondition for duas to be accepted. However, if the clothing is earned through haraam wealth or stolen wealth, then this will cause the duas to be rejected.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
