Can I Use a Conventional Bank for Right to Buy Scheme if I Can’t Get a Halal Mortgage?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I want to buy a house under the right to buy scheme but cannot get a halal mortgage. I have found no Islamic bank that offers a halal mortgage for government schemes. Please advise if I can use abnormal bank.

Bismillaah

A: Taking an interest bearing loan is not permissible. The one who takes an interest bearing loan is under divine curse. Hence, refrain from this.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
