Three types of knowledge

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: According to the following narration, can you explain the different type of knowledge?

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says: “Knowledge is of three types; the clear book [Quraan], an established Sunnah, and saying ‘I do not know’.”

Bismillaah

A: This is reported in Abu Dawood Shareef. One are those verses of the Quraan Shareef that are not abrogated. The second is the sunnat that is authenticated and reliable, and the third is the conclusions that you arrive to based on the Quraan Shareef and hadeeth.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
