Banking in India: Balancing Taqwa and Financial Transactions

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In India we have all transactions through our bank accounts. Is it against taqwa to deposit money in the bank? I never use interest but distribute it to the poor.

Bismillaah

A: Where there is a genuine need the ulama have allowed it. However you should ensure that you guard yourself against interest and things that are of a doubtful nature.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
