Husband saying ‘tal’ or ‘tala’ instead of talaaq

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a husband is angry and he is about to say the word “talaq”. But only “tal” or “tala” comes out of his mouth. Then he stops himself from completing the word “talaq”. Would there be talaq or no? Please answer both cases. First if he is talking to his wife and she is present in the room. Second when he is alone and thinking of divorce.

Bismillaah

A: In both cases no talaaq has taken place.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
