Explaining the prohibition of music to a non-Muslim

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: All Muslims say music is haram and give ahadith and quranic verse. I got a question from a non-Muslim who says that what is the scientific reason behind prohibition of music?

Bismillaah

A: When the non-Muslim has not accepted imaan and the fundamentals of faith, how will he ever get to terms with secondary matters. Ask him what is the scientific reason for him not believing in Allah Ta`ala.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
