Fear of getting married

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am scared to get married but my parents are forcing me. I grew up in an environment where my parents fight everyday and both of my parents are involved in extra marital affairs. It is upsetting for me because obviously nobody will accept that and suppose, even if I do get married and that person gets to know about it he might leave me… Please help me as I am getting rude towards my parents. I am trying to keep myself close to Allah Ta’ala but as soon as my parents are telling me anything related to that I am unable to hear it.

A: Nikaah is an emphasized sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and a means of safeguarding one from sin. If your parents find a suitable match for you, then you should not delay in getting married. Do not let your parents marital problems prevent you from following the sunnah. When you speak to your parents, speak to them with love and respect. Their marital issues should not cause you to compromise your respect and kindness towards them. After salaah make dua for your parents that Allah Ta’ala guide them to the straight path.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
