Bleeding after a miscarriage (Shaafi Mazhab)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Please advise as per Shaafi mazhab.

I had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago. The blood test showed pregnancy on Tuesday, on Wednesday I bled, and on Thursday the miscarriage was confirmed. I bled from Thursday till the following week Friday. I took ghusl and then I was ok until Tuesday, when I saw blood and now I’m not sure anymore.

Bismillaah

A: If there were blood clots or pieces of flesh that were passed out then the bleeding that follows will be regarded as nifaas (post-natal bleeding). As such, you will consider yourself to be in nifaas as long as the bleeding does not stop for a minimum duration of 15 days. (Mughnil Muhtaaj)

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
