Q: Regarding the Ayah of Nur, the example of a lamp is given. Is it talking about Allah’s zaat or Allah’s Noor or something else? Allah is not like anything so I don’t understand, is Allah being compared to a lamp?
A: This is just an illustration to show the noor of Allah Ta`ala. Noor is also among the sifaat of Allah. It translates as zaahirun li nafishi muzhirun li ghayrihi.
And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
