Do’s and don’ts for a pregnant woman

Q: Please advise the do’s and don’ts Islamically for someone who just fallen pregnant or any kitaab that will we useful for mum and baby.

Bismillaah

A: Observe all the laws of shari`ah, be punctual with namaaz. Make regular tilaawat in a slightly raised voice. Abstain from anything haraam or doubtful. Refrain from areas where the laws of Allah Ta`ala are violated. Make du`aa for the child from now, and recite Surah Yaseen and durood shareef in abundance. Perform salaatul haajah and beg Allah Ta`ala with the following du`aa:

رَبِّ هَبْ لِيْ مِن لَّدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
