Film Acting in Islam: Are Men Exempt from Gunah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is film acting allowed in Islam. For women it is clear, they do gunah because they are not in hijab. But what about the men who play different roles in the drama serials. Are they not doing gunah. Please explain this matter.

Bismillaah

A: Photography and filming is totally haraam and impermissible for both men and women. Furthermore, there are other sins that one will get involved in when filming, such as intermingling etc.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
