New Muslim learning to recite the Quraan

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: A friend of mine who became a Muslim a couple years ago has been accredited for hajj this year. She does not know how to read the Arabic Quraan but she has one that has been gifted to her. She has been told that she can read la illahah illal lah for every word. Is that permissible?

Bismillaah

A: She should make an effort to learn how to recite the Quraan.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
