Writing divorced as one’s marital status in a visa form

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Wife asked her husband a question. The question is: Who writes divorced in marital status on visa forms? Husband said: Maye someone was divorced and wants to visit abroad then he will write divorced as his marital status. The husband had no bad intention. He just said that to explain to his wife. The wife is worried that divorce took place.

Bismillaah

A: If the form was filled in knowing fully well that this is a lie and not an issuance of divorce then no divorce has taken place.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
