Q: What is the shari ruling on gambling. Is it actually mentioned in Surah Baqarah that it has some benefit for men?
A: The meaning of the verse is that although there are some benefits in it, the harms and evils far outweigh its benefits. Therefore, shariah has declared it haraam. Just as there are some benefits in consuming wine, however, since the harms and evils far outweigh its benefits, shariah has looked at the broader interest of man and hence, declared it haraam.
