Can Muslims Own Cats as Pets?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Can a Muslim buy a pet like cat to rear. Because I heard that Muslims should not buy them.

Bismillaah

A: Yes, provided he is sure that he will take good care of the pet whether he is at home or out.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
