Sharing one’s property and wealth with one’s wife

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My husband owns a house and money. He wants to make it half mine and half his. How do we do it according to shariah. Must it be written in the will or must we write a seperate letter stating what we want. Should I also do the same?

Bismillaah

A:

1. He may sell whatever portion he wants at a mutually agreed price.

2. After selling it, make it known to the rest of the heirs. You may also get them to witness it and have it recorded.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
