Can Women Cut Their Hair Below the Buttocks?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What is the evidence that women cannot cut their hair? I have searched online for evidence but have not across anything clear. Can a women trim their hair that is below the buttocks (such that it remains still below the buttocks and does not resemble men)?

Bismillaah

A: There is evidence in the hadeeth, and moreover the fuqahaa are agreed on this. The fuqahaa have the evidence from the hadeeth and it is not everybody’s work to be able to understand the level of the discussion of the fuqahaa.

If it is disturbing and cumbersome then she may trim that.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
