Sahib-e-tarteeb missing a salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If I missed a fardh prayer of fajr then I went to offer zuhar prayer with jamat and when jamat started then should I first offer qaza prayer of fajr and then join the jamat or should I first join the jamat for zuhar prayer and then offer farz prayer of fajr?

Bismillaah

A: If you are a Saahib-e-Tarteeb, then you should first perform the Qadhaa Salaah, after which you will perform the Salaah of the time that set in. If you are not a Saahib-e-Tarteeb, then it is permissible for you to perform the Salaahs in any sequence. A Saahib-e-Tarteeb is that person who has less than six Qadhaa Salaah. For a Saahib-e-Tarteeb, it is necessary to perform the Qadhaa Salaah in sequence, before performing the Salaah of the time that set in. If a person’s Qadhaa Salaah are six or more, he will no longer remain a Saahib-e-Tarteeb and it will not be necessary for him to perform the Qadhaa Salaah in sequence.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
