Paying zakaat on money loaned to someone

Q: If someone borrowed some money from me, do I have to give Zakaat on the money lent to someone?

Bismillaah

A: Since the loaned amount belongs to you and will be returned to you, you will have to discharge the zakaat of the loaned amount.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
