Q: I recently asked you a question that a person who abandons salaah completely for a long time or do not pray at all without any reason is a kafir or not in which you said he is not a kafir. But there is a narration, the Tabi’i Abdullah Ibn Shaqiq narrated: “The companions of the Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) did not consider the leaving of any action as disbelief, except for the prayer” Can you please clarify?

Bismillaah

A: It is better for a person like you not to study hadeeth himself. Rather, refer to someone that is specialised in the field. What is meant here is the one who totally leaves out namaaz and rejects the obligation of salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
