Wet Dream and Ghusl: Questions on Validity of Salaat and Need for Ghusl

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I woke up after having a wet dream. I immediately made Ghusl and then remained awake for sometime during which I performed Salaat. I then urinated. A sticky, semen-like fluid came out with the urine. The urine was also very cloudy indicting the possible presence of semen therein. I therefore made Ghusl again.

1. Was it necessary for me to make Ghusl again after observing this about the urine?

2. Was the Salaat valid?

Bismillaah

A:

1. If you had taken a fardh ghusal and after a little while you found that semen had come out, then you should repeat the ghusal. However, if before taking ghusal you had passed urine or walked for forty steps or more or slept for a while, thereafter you made ghusal, then in all these cases, if semen had come out after taking ghusal, you will not have to repeat the ghusal.

2. After taking ghusal, if immediately you performed Salaah and after Salaah semen had come out, then since ghusal was compulsory upon you, the Salaah performed before that will not be valid.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
