Supplication after every salat: Bida’h or not?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it bida’h to perform supplication after every salat?

Bismillaah

A: Making dua after Salaah is established in the Sunnah. Hence, it is not a bid’ah. However, it should be noted that making dua collectively (where the Imaam audibly make dua and the muqtadis say ameen) is not an established practice in Deen. The sunnah method of dua which used to take place in the time of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is that each person used to make his own individual dua silently after Salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
