Hacking for Good: Using Unused Computer Power to Benefit Charity

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am a hacker, but I do not want to use my skills for bad. May I use the remaining unused power of a person’s computer (without his permission) to help do some calculations and give half of any profits to charity?

Bismillaah

A: This is haraam. How can one steal with the intention of giving the stolen wealth in charity. Such charity will be rejected.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
