Breaking the Stereotype: Muslim Women and the Black Abaya

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Are Muslim females not caught in the trap of emulating the Kufaar shia’s by wearing black abayas?

Bismillaah

A: The black abaaya has always been the garb of decent respectable Muslim women. It cannot be abandoned on account of some shias adopting it. Just as shias also keep beards then on account of them growing a beard you will not be asked to shave off your beards.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
