Can Parents Control Clothes They Buy for Their Children?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If parents buy clothes for their children and tell them to use it for dressing purposes and do not make them the owner of the clothes, will it be permissible for the parents to do whatever they like with that clothes without asking the child?

Bismillaah

A: If it was not given to the children and it was meant only for them to use then it belongs to the parents. They may do as they please thereafter.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
