Sitting after the third rakaat in a four rakaat salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: One common mistake I make in salaah is sitting in the 3rd rakaat when reading a 4 rakaats salaah, please guide me whether I need to make sajda e sahw?

Bismillaah

A: If you sit for the duration of three Subhaanallahs or more, sajda-e-sahw will be waajib. If you sit less than the duration of three Subhaanallahs, and upon realising that you have only completed three rakaats, you immediately stand up, sajda-e-sahw will not be waajib.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
