What to Do When Someone Refuses to Forgive You Despite Your Apology?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If you do bad to someone and then you realize that you are being punished and if you ask forgivenss, the other person refuses to forgive you and say that he will take revenge on the day of judgement then what should we do? I feel sorry for what I did and have asked for tauba alot.

Bismillaah

A: You should seek forgiveness from him for the wrongs you have done to him. If you have oppressed him by taking away any of his property, possessions or wealth, then you should return it to him. After seeking forgiveness for few times, if he still does not forgive you, then you should not worry as you have done what was required of you.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
