Consulting one’s parents when choosing a spouse

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I prayed for marriage with a girl and I thought that prayer is accepted. I said no to her afterwards but I don’t understand how can I know that my dua is accepted.

Bismillaah

A: Don’t subject yourself to mental turmoil. Rather consult your parents and elders and make du`aa as well. Base your choice on your elders’ decision. Insha-Allah you will get barkat in this.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
