Relationship with parents who are non-Muslims

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In Islam, it is not permissible to have a close friendship with non-Muslims. What should be the behaviour towards parents and siblings who are not Muslims?

Bismillaah

A: Since they are not friends, but rather family, a believer is commanded to treat his parents kindly and respectfully (in all permissible matters) and deal with his siblings in a good manner. Perhaps his good conduct will be an invitation for them entering into the fold of Islaam.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
