Missing a waajib in a sunnat salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a person forgets to recite surah faatihah or leaves out any other waajib in a sunnat salaah and only remembers after the time has passed, does he need to repeat the salaah or not?

Bismillaah

A: If one did not make sajda-e-sahw, then it is waajib to repeat the Salaah as long as the Salaah time does not expire. Once the Salaah time expires, it is no longer waajib to repeat the Salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
