Juggling Faith and Family: Choosing Islamic Studies as a Revert

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am a revert for five months now and I am currently doing my last year in media studies? I would like to take up Islamic studies but I am the only Muslim in my family and I fear that my parents will not support my decision. How can I handle this situation?

Bismillaah

A: For Islamic studies there is no formality required. If there is a person who understands Islam well and he lives near you, then go to him and learn Islam from him gradually and correctly.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
