Hiding the grooms shoes in a wedding

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Please provide ruling on hiding the grooms shoes during wedding (Nikaah) ceremonies. Is it permissible in Islam? What are its origins? If it’s not permissible then how to convince our Muslim brethren about this issue? Please provide your valuable suggestions.

Bismillaah

A: It is not permissible. How can causing inconvenience and embarrassment to someone ever be permissible?

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
