Did Prophet Muhammad and his companions keep women as slaves during war?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: A non Muslim wants to accept Islam but he has a query whether prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and his companions kept women as slaves during the war. Please if you could explain this in detail with references.

Bismillaah

A: You don’t get involved in all of this. It is beyond your understanding, and when non-Muslims have not accepted the basic beliefs how can they accept things of a secondary issues.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
