Ruling on Wearing Niqab During Prayer and Hajj

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I would like to know what is the ruling on wearing niqab while praying and wearing niqab while making hajj. I have read that regarding hajj it is not permissible to wear niqab but rather to wear a covering of some sort? I do not understand what is meant by that.

Bismillaah

A: Wearing the niqaab in ihraam is forbidden, whether at the time of prayer or out of the time of prayer.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
