Circumventing the Kaaba: Is it Sharia-Compliant Ibadat?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I heard some people are fond of circumventing the Kaaba 7 times. I want to know if this is in line with sharia, i.e. circumventing the Kaaba in multiple times as a form of additional ibadat.

Bismillaah

A: To go around the Ka`bah is called tawaaf. One tawaaf requires an individual to do seven rounds around the Ka`bah, and doing this is a great act of merit.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
