Correct spelling of names

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: We want to know if these names are Islamically correct for our child. Also, the correct way to spell in English as our Arabic is not the best. These are the names:

Nur Addunya or Noor Addunya

Nur AlJannah or Noor Aljannah

Nur AlHayat or Noor Alhayat

Bismillaah

A: It is permissible. The exact spelling of Arabic words in English is not possible as there is no definite equivalent for the Arabic alphabets in English.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
