Can Divorced Couples Reconcile or Remarry?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What are the conditions of a divorced couple reconciling or remarrying each other? Is this a possibility?

Bismillaah

A: If the husband had issued one or two revocable talaaqs and the wife’s iddat had terminated, if both wish to reunite, it will be permissible provided a new nikah is performed with a separate mahr. If the husband had issued three talaaqs, it will not be possible for both to reunite unless halaala takes place.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
