What intention to make when purchasing clothing for na-baaligh children

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: When buying items e.g. clothing, toys for non baligh children, what niyyat should we make? I have heard that you can’t give away any item of theirs after you have made them owners. e.g. I am buying my son clothes this month.

Bismillaah

A: If you want to avoid any confusion in the future then don’t transfer ownership to them, but you only allow them the use of the article. Hence, the ownership is still yours and you may do as you please.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
