Q: Fajr Qaza – When Should You Pray It?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If someone misses fajr prayer, does he have to pray qaza of it before zuhr prayer or he has up until the next fajr (24 hours) to pray fajr qaza? If for some reason he cannot pray fajr qaza before zuhr prayer, does he have to then pray qaza the next morning before fajr prayer?

Bismillaah

A: If one is a sahib-e-tarteeb (i.e. a person who has less than six qadha salaah) then it is compulsory upon him to first perform his missed fajr salaah before he performs his zuhr salaah. However if he is not a sahib-e-tarteeb then it is permissible for him to perform his missed fajr salaah before the zuhr salaah or after the zuhr salaah.
