Fighting Obesity: Islamic Prescriptions for Weight Loss

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Unfortunately many of us Muslims are now suffering from obesity including myself. Are there any prescriptions from Islamic sources with which to combat this lifestyle disease and to lose weight?

Bismillaah

A: Control your eating by keeping one third of the stomach for food, one third for water and one third for air. Further, don’t eat until you are genuinely hungry.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
