Switching on lights at maghrib time

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My question is that I always heard from my elders to switch lights ON during Maghrib Azaan and closing washroom doors at that moment. What is Islamic opinion on this? My next question is that I always heard not to cut nails at night. What is Islamic authentication?

Bismillaah

A: There is no basis for all this.

This is also baseless.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
