Photographing People During Charity Work: Permissible or Not?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible to take photographs of people while doing charity work as we see everyday by most prominent organizations who use these photographs to promote themselves. If not permissible, should we support these organizations?

Bismillaah

A: A haraam cannot be practised no matter how lofty the intention may be. Like one cannot drink wine to promote the sale of his car.

Ask them to avoid photography.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
