Men placing the hands below the navel in Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I heard that that the hands should be placed on the chest during salah because there are sahih hadith on this. And also, the hadith of placing hands below the navel is weak. Is this true? I’ve been told it doesn’t matter much where the hands are placed as long as the prayers are offered, but I still would like to know the correct way.

Bismillaah

A: This is incorrect. The Hadith of placing the hands below the navel is an authentic Hadith. For the details you may refer to I’laaus Sunan.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
