Wearing the ihraam from Jeddah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am leaving for umrah but will be spending a night and day in Jeddah. I have been told that my brother and I can wear our ihraam in Jeddah before we leave for Makkah the next day. Please clarify if this is true.

Bismillaah

A: If it is that you have some genuine work in Jeddah and therefore you are stopping over in Jeddah and thereafter you intend umrah then you may tie your ihraam at Jeddah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
