Reserving a grave in a public graveyard

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If you are a trustee of a public qabrastan, can you reserve burial sites for yourself or your family members?

Bismillaah

A: People have equal rights in a public qabrastaan. Hence it is not permissible for the trustees of the qabrastaan to reserve a piece of land for themselves.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
