Shaking hands with non-mahram women

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: We are living in Canada. Me and my son are worried about one situation. My son goes for job interviews and if there is a lady over there and she extends her hand, then my son has to shake her hand, otherwise my son feels ashamed to shake their hands. I ask you to please guide us to prevent handshaking with ladies.

Bismillaah

A: It is not permissible for him to shake hands with non-mahram women. If they extend their hands, he should refrain from shaking their hands.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
